Kennet Design is different from the rest of the field. We strive to achieve a deep understanding of our clients, we want to know what makes them tick, so that we're able to design high-quality buildings and environments for them that work on every level: practical, technical and financial. Our design practice is made up of chartered and non-charterered architectural designers alike and, with the combined effort of planning consultants, structural engineers and project coordinators, we lead our clients from the very first conversation right through to completion if required.
We're proud of all our work, but have picked out a selection of a few completed projects to illustrate the scope and standard of our architectural design expertise here at Kennet Design. Take a look at the case studies featured below, which range from a timber-clad garden room/office designed for a client in Pewsey, Wiltshire, to a beautiful Georgian-style new build home in Marlborough.
The biggest and most worthwhile home improvement project you can embark on is to add an extension - or even more than one! Extending your home not only gives you more space to enjoy, but it also adds value and appeal to your property. It's no wonder that the slogan "improve, don't move" has taken off in a big way.
When you are considering an extension, the best way forward is probably to investigate the possibility of a loft conversion. Not only is this the most cost effective way of expanding your living space and add value to your property, but it will also obviate having to lose outside space for the building of a new extension.

Kennet Design did everything to get our house renervations ready to build (side return extension and loft conversion). This was from the initial survey of our property, consultation on our wants and likes to help input into the design, detailed designs, structural drawings, planning applications and all those little things you are not aware of. All this was complete with a friendly and professional stance.

I can not recommend them highly enough they walked us through the whole process, gave advice, and put up with our changes as the project developed. They kept us informed throughout the process and Carl is always on hand to answer any questions. When appointing builders all commented how comprehensive the design and detail was meaning we could get accurate quotes. Been a smooth and happy process and looking forward to finishing the build.

Carl was exceptional from start to end - he took a lot of time at each stage, first of all spending time listening to what we wanted and really listening to us as well as trying to give us a few options to consider. He gave us great detailed advice on how the planning permission process would go and initially after having an initial unsatisfactory verdict worked tirelessly with the council end in a successful conclusion and really went above and beyond!

Not sure where to start, the moment we meet Carl we felt comfortable working with him. The amount of effort he went to in gaining planning permission for our property and the support and guidance they gave during this phase and also after which helped seal the sale of the property. If you are planning any type of residential work then you must contact Kennet Design

Carl Drury took us from concept through to the start of tendering for a builder for our terraced house refurbishment and extension. This included gaining planning approval and building control sign off on his design for our works. Carl was exemplary in how he conducted himself through out this process and above all else was extremely patient with our many changes in the design and what we were needing from the drawings.

For complete novices such as us, he was very clear in his explanations and deciphered the 'builder' speak when we got initial estimates from our builders. Carl proved well his adaptability to operating in a new area (Southwark, London). I would happily recommend Carl's services, especially to renovation novices and would have definitely gone further with the others he provides (Project Management and Builder referrals) had our house been closer to where his business normally covers.

Carl Drury (Kennet Design) has played a crucial part in bringing our listed cottage into the 21st century. The oak-framed garden room at the centre of this work adds light and space, completing and enhancing the garage to kitchen conversion delivered at the same time. The project included extensive refurbishing of older parts of the cottage and essential structural repairs.

All of this required listed building consent and considerable negotiation with relevant authorities, on our behalf. Carl was adaptable and resourceful, involving structural engineers and historic consultants when required. Carl's astute recommendation of a particular local building firm proved highly successful - and Richard Barnes Ltd of Heddington also receive our grateful appreciation.

Carl Drury of Kennet Design is not only a consummate professional but also a pleasure to work with. We had met a couple of other architects before finding Kennet Design, but neither had Carl's genuine enthusiasm for working on even relatively small projects like ours. Kennet Design has a reassuringly large portfolio of extensions so Carl immediately understood our needs and budget as a growing family and how to get the best from our Victorian terrace.

The whole process was very clearly laid out from the start and Carl talked us through the various options. When we changed our minds about a couple of things Carl adapted the plans very quickly. Kennet Design took on the form-filling and applications to the council that I had dreaded having to do, so we could get on with the rather more enjoyable task of coming up with interior design ideas (thanks goes to Carl for the radiator suggestion!). Carl's experience and determination overcame some initial resistance from the planning officer and we got exactly the design we wanted.

He has been on hand to answer our neighbours' concerns and his gentle affability has proved invaluable in maintaining a civil relationship with them. We are now in the middle of our build and can't wait to spend the summer holidays in our new light-filled and spacious kitchen/living room.

Kennet Design were so professional from beginning to end of our project and we really felt we had a personal touch and that they really cared about our plans and vision. The plans that were drawn up were brilliant and gave our builders the precise information they needed to carry out the work to regulation standard - even in a way that we understood, so we could keep an eye on the build and progress. Thank you to the team for making our first experience of house renovation such a great one!
