BetterLivingSpace architectural design and structural engineering was founded in 2015, with over15+ years' experience of architectural design, structural engineering and marketing expertise shared between the founders to launch a new venture. The vision was to provide innovative and personalised architectural designs, coupled with simple, effective structural engineering solutions. Our results speak for themselves. We provide a full range of architectural design and structural engineering services for all stages of a property extension, conversion, redesign or new build. From working closely with our clients to produce architectural plans and 3D modelling, to calculating the structural supports; bringing your plans to life in virtual reality, or guiding you through the planning and building control process; our team of architectural designers and structural engineers is with you every step of the way.
At BetterLivingSpace we work closely with our clients to ensure our architectural designs for home extensions, conversions, redesigns or new builds fulfil or go beyond expectations, while aligning with budget. Using 3D imaging and Virtual Reality (VR) technology during the development phase you can visualise and refine your ideas as we progress.
The structural elements form the base of your extension, conversion, or new build project and can - quite literally - make or break the design! Our in-house structural engineers use bespoke, tailored calculations to provide the most simple yet effective structural solutions. We absolutely thrive on finding individual answers to intricate challenges!
At BetterLivingSpace we enjoy a strong track record of gaining planning approval and we maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of Local Authority Planning Departments. Our aim is to remove the stress from the planning application process. During the design phase we submit a Pre-Planning Application to your Local Authority Planning Department to gather very top level feedback on our proposed approach.

5 Star Review! I cannot recommend Ed at BetterLivingSpace highly enough. He recently provided structural calculations and structural plans for a renovation project on my home. I am a worrier but immediately felt at ease on meeting Ed, who was so calm and took the time to help me understand the structural components. He clearly has so much knowledge of his trade.
He answered my questions and queries with patience and clarity. I was extremely grateful also that Ed, and also Clair the company's marketing manager, were always at the end of the phone continuing to give answers, advice and reassurances during and even after completion of the project, for example with the complexities of Building Control. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Previously I had a dated and cramped home, which was not suitable or safe to bring my young grandchildren to, so was a constant worry to me. Thanks to Ed's expertise and input, I now have an open plan, modern space in which to entertain safely. Ed and Clair's presence was invaluable. It is very clear that Ed and Clair care passionately about providing the very best service and experience to their customers and that is exactly what they delivered.

Ed has worked with us on the internal renovation of our kitchen/dining room and garage conversion. He is knowledgeable and came up with some excellent ideas to make the space flow whilst keeping our budget in mind. We were recommended Ed through a trusted local builder who has worked on several projects with him. We had our initial plans drawn up by an architect but it was Ed who has truly brought them to life and finessed every detail while incorporating a few extra things after listening to our needs and wants. His business manner and his general character is better than you would hope for when dealing with a project that is so personal like your home.

Ed helped us with the removal of a connecting wall between the kitchen / dining room including the first floor chimney breast. As it was a main structural wall Ed's structural engineering skills were invaluable. We also enlisted Ed's project management skills so the work could be completed while we were on holiday. It was great to return with all the work complete and not having to live through the mess.
Something that wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for Ed - monitoring the builders and keeping us updated on the progress. I wouldn't hesitate in using Ed again and highly recommend, He was a pleasure to work with.
